Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN)
The online RN to BSN Completion Program provides the associate degree or diploma-prepared registered nurse an opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN). Registered nurses who have completed an associate degree or diploma program are candidates for this online degree.
The program is 100% online with no campus visits or required class meeting times and designed to be flexible for working professionals hoping to continue their education.
The RN to BSN degree completion program can be completed in 12 months if enrolled full-time. Once prerequisites and general education courses are completed, the RN-to-B.S.N. curriculum is 31 credit hours in length and can be completed within one calendar year.
Application Information for Admission to the RN-to-BSN Program:
Registered nurses seeking admission to the RN-to-BSN curriculum who need to complete nursing prerequisites and/or General Education courses may apply for admission as a Pre-RN-to-BSN student. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on all college work attempted. Admission as a Pre-RN-to-BSN student does not automatically admit an applicant to the RN-to-BSN Program.
* We offer a Distance Education online program (fall and spring admission)
The Distance Education option provides all 31 hours of the nursing curriculum as online courses (special hardware and software requirements for students). In addition to the Program’s prerequisite courses and the nursing courses, students must meet all of the University’s general education requirements to earn the B.S.N.. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (B.S.N.) requires the number of credit hours determined by the catalog year in which a student enrolls. Students entering the program in fall 2019, are required to complete 120 hours.
*Please note that your state of residence can determine the degree to which UNC Charlotte is authorized to deliver online programs. This is particularly true related to authorization to permit out-of-state clinical practicum. If you live in NC please plan to complete your practicum in NC if possible. Licensure Eligibility
Students seeking admission to the RN to BSN Completion program must have completed a nursing program and be licensed as a Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license.
